About Bisbee

Bisbee is a city in Cochise County, Arizona, United States, 82 miles (132 km) southeast of Tucson. Bisbee is located at 31°25'6?N, 109°53'52?W and has a total area of 4.8 square miles (12.5 km²), all of it land.

In 2005 Bisbee had a population of 6,177 people with a density of 1,266.3 people per square mile combining 84.12% White, 0.46% African American, 1.22% Native American, 0.49% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 11.07% from other races, and 2.58% from two or more races.

The city of Bisbee was named like this in honor of Judge DeWitt Bisbee a financial backer of the Copper Queen Mine and in the beginning it has been built to be a copper, gold and silver mining town. In 1929, the Bisbee became the county seat.

Nowadays Bisbee is famous among the artist's community. People there preserved the architectural and historic heritage. The city of Bisbee is the prefect destination for tourists who look for a beautiful place that combines an exquisite architecture with a wonderful landscape and an ideal year round climate for spending an unforgettable vacation.

Bisbee's Queen Mine was one of the richest copper mines in history. Today it is one of the mains attractions in the area receiving the visit of over 50,000 people every year. The Queen Mine Tour is a symbolic one and its' purpose is to celebrate the memory of the ones who worked in a place where the temperatures are 47 degrees during the entire year.
